Lenten Message

Lent: A Holy Pause in a Digital Age

“Be still, and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10

Dear friends,

Lent is a sacred season of repentance, renewal, and deeper communion
with God. For forty days, the Church invites us to pray more earnestly,
fast more intentionally, and examine our hearts honestly. In today’s
world, one of our greatest distractions is constant digital engagement.
Many of us reach for our phones before we turn to prayer. We scroll
more than we reflect. This Lent, we encourage Digital Fasting -
intentionally reducing social media and unnecessary screen time to
make space for God. Digital fasting is not about rejecting technology,
but about reclaiming attention. What shapes our attention shapes our
spiritual life.
Brief Digital Self-Check:
Rate each statement from 1 to 5: 1 – Rarely; 2 – Occasionally; 3 –
Sometimes; 4 – Often; 5 – Almost Always
● I check my phone immediately after waking up.
● I feel uneasy or restless when I cannot access social media.
● I lose track of time while scrolling.
● I check my phone during prayer, worship, or conversations.
● I compare my life with what I see online.

Scoring & Reflection: Add your total score (Minimum: 5 | Maximum:
25)

● 5–10 – Healthy digital habits. Continue practicing mindful
discipline.
● 11–15 – Growing attachment. Consider small, intentional
boundaries.
● 16–20 – Strong dependence. A structured digital fast during
Lent is recommended.
● 21–25 – High compulsivity. This Lent may be a call for serious
digital limits and spiritual accountability.
This self-check is not meant to produce guilt, but awareness. Lent is
a season of grace and transformation. Even simple commitments - no
phone before morning prayer, screen-free evenings, or replacing
scrolling with Scripture meditation and meaningful conversation - can
deepen your walk with Christ and strengthen relationships at home.
Lenten Prayer Gatherings: Lenten Prayers will be held every
Wednesday at 6:30 PM at the Church. All are warmly invited to gather
in worship, reflection, and prayer as we journey together toward
Easter.

Let us pause, return, and renew our hearts before the Lord.
